DESCRIPTION: "Finale" is a triptych meditation on the time before, during, and immediately following my father's death. I was working on all three paintings from which these quilts were created at the time of his death. They ultimately became visual records of my emotional state and experiences.

In the left panel, "Foreboding," symbols of counting capture the idea of passing and limited time and the idea of counting down to something. The colors and marks are hot, angry, and jumbled. The limited color palette and translucent layers in the center panel, "Last Breath," evoke a thinness between this world and the next. A stitched line that looks similar to a rope breaks down from a solid line to shorter segments, to a few dots as it moves across the canvas. The right panel, "Grief," seeks to portray the dark, constricting, twisting, and turning feelings that mark the beginning of the grieving process.

Each panel measures 31.5 inches wide by 39.5 inches high. The overall width of the entire triptych is 98.5 inches, assuming 2 inches of space between the panels.
