On Point

Catalog number: 2010-0001

DESCRIPTION: This piece combines improvisational strip piecing and layers of mark making in both water media and fabric applique. I created it as a meditation on the idea of reduction, from the many occurrences of the motif at the top to a single occurrence at the bottom. A single, dark vertical element at the bottom of the piece tapers nearly to a point to reiterate the idea of reduction, singularity, and balance on a point.
